Neil O'Connor

Neil is currently the Fleet Depot Manager at Wimbledon Stagecoach South West Trains with responsibility for the maintenance, materials and reliability of three fleets of trains running on the South West Suburban route and a workforce of 190. He has financial responsibility for the running of the depot and all of its outputs with fleets that have won awards for best reliability in class 3 years running.

With a BEng hons in railway Engineering and working towards Chartership he will be taking up the position of Head of Fleet Performance for the whole of South West trains in June responsible for the fleet operational performance of over 350 units forming over 1700 train services a day.

Prior to this Neil held positions as senior production manager and Technical Performance manager within South west trains Wimbledon.

He has also worked with Network Rail as the Senior Rail Vehicle Interface Engineer working closely with with Route Asset Managers, ATOC and TOC's to optimise the interface performance of rolling stock and infrastructure.

Neil has also worked for Siemens on Desiro fleets on Greater Anglia as a Supervisor at Seven Kings depot, he was Technical Author for the traction handbook, maintenance manuals and delivered a balanced exam regime optimising fleet availability with a fleet that won awards for most improved and most reliable.

Prior to this he worked at Old Oak Common on the class 332 Heathrow Express and undertook aa successful major rebuild project after a depot incident. He also worked for South Eastern Trains as a Skilled Service Technician at Charing cross station and covered a geographical area as far as New Cross for service breakdown and repairs in the line of route after he had completed his T & RS British Railways apprenticeship at Ramsgate depot.
