After graduating as an aerospace engineer Pieter started working at the SNCB in a train repair workshop in 2009. It is during that period that his interest in remote diagnostics was triggered. After three years in Hasselt Pieter started working in Brussels at the SNCB headquarters, where he initially looked over the maintenance program of the newest trains in the SNCB fleet: the AM08-Desiro. It was during this period that he got the opportunity to work with the remote diagnostics data of the AM08 trains. With the raw data at hand he started developing software for the workshops which allowed the Engineering Team to monitor their fleet and to organize and schedule the corrective maintenance that needed to be performed. Over the years he has extended the scope of the remote diagnostics to other fleets and is always keen on integrating new features that improve the reliability and maintenance processes.
