Adam Bevan

Professor of Railway Systems Engineering

Institute of Railway Research

Following the completion of his PhD in 2004, Adam joined the Rail Technology Unit at Manchester Metropolitan University. During his time at the Rail Technology Unit, Adam built up a wide range of expertise and knowledge in the field of wheel-rail interface engineering, vehicle dynamics simulation and vehicle-track interaction. This specialist knowledge has been applied to a large number of research projects for key industry stakeholders into the causes, prediction and mitigation of rail and wheel damage. Adam joined the University of Huddersfield in July 2012 where he is currently Professor of Railway Systems Engineering and Head of Enterprise for the Institute of Railway Research. Over the last few years he has further extended his research interests into a number of emerging areas including; Remote Condition Monitoring, Smart Maintenance and New Materials. Adam is a Chartered Mechanical Engineering and a fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
