We are a global leader in the provision of information to maximise safety and reliability and reduce
costs. Our award winning, self-powered, wireless sensing technology, combined with vibration
engineering expertise and rich analytics, provides real time information that enables you to optimise
your railway operations. With over 25 000 assets under continuous observation around the world
and no Perpetuum equipped train every failing in service we can safely say that our information is
truly actionable.


We have developed four distinct functionalities which are configured for each application – “Nodes”
for data collection, “Gateways” for data transmission, “PALs” for Perpetuum ALgorithms and “Apps”
for information visualisation and access. Our quick to install sensor nodes can be fitted on various
assets on the train to provide condition information on wheels, axle bearings, motors, gearboxes,
ride and track.


Our people are the leading experts in their field, with a focus on innovation, customer service and
excellence. We continue to push boundaries within the sector through research and development
collaborations. In 2020 we were awarded a project to finalise the development of the first sensor
that will monitor wheel, bearings, axle and track condition simultaneously.


Established in 2004, Perpetuum revolutionised the way large amounts of information can be
gathered. We achieved this by engineering, producing and commercialising the world’s first practical
vibration energy harvesting micro-generator which now powers our unique sensor nodes. Without
any batteries these nodes are able to operate continuously without any maintenance for at least 20
years.


We are working with an ever growing number of railway companies around the world and providing
this innovative combination of scalable technology and knowledge to the likes of Southeastern
Trains, Eversholt Rail, Govia Thameslink, SJ (Sweden), MTM (Melbourne), Abellio Scotrail, Network
Rail, Hitachi, Siemens, Stadler, amongst others.


In 2021, Perpetuum joined Hitachi Rail, giving it access to the company’s transportation portfolio in
over 38 countries worldwide. Hitachi Rail is a fully integrated, global provider of rail solutions across
rolling stock, signalling, service & maintenance, digital technology and turnkey railway systems.
As part of Hitachi, Perpetuum’s remote condition monitoring solutions contribute to Hitachi Rail’s
